Privacy Policy

Draft — review before publishing. This is a working draft that
reflects how the app currently handles data. Confirm the operator name, contact
address, governing jurisdiction, and data-retention periods, and have it reviewed
before relying on it for an app-store submission.
iCookNow ("the app", "we") is a cooking and meal-planning application. This policy
explains what personal data the app collects, why, who it is shared with, and the
choices you have.
Data we collect
- Account information — the email address you sign up with. Your
password is handled by our authentication provider and stored only as a salted hash;
we never see it.
- Content you create — recipes, ingredients, cooking steps, pantry
items, weekly meal plans, ratings, and notes you add.
- Chef profile facts — information you tell the app or its AI chef so
it can tailor suggestions, which may include allergies, dietary restrictions, disliked
ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
- AI chat messages — the messages you send to the in-app AI chef and
its replies.
- Usage records — for each AI request, the model used and the amount
of text processed, so we can meter cost and enforce fair-use limits.
- Technical logs — standard server logs (timestamps, request paths,
error traces) generated when the app talks to our backend.
The app does not include third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
How we use it
- To provide the core features — storing your recipes, pantry, and plans, and syncing
them to your account.
- To operate the AI chef: your messages, relevant chef-profile facts, and the recipe
you're working on are sent to our AI provider to generate a response.
- To run automated safety checks on AI-drafted recipes (for example, cross-checking
against allergies you've recorded).
- To meter and limit AI usage per account.
- To diagnose errors and keep the service running.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the service providers that make the
app work:
- Supabase — database, account authentication, and file storage.
- Anthropic — processes AI chef messages and recipe text to generate
responses. Content sent to the AI provider is subject to their API terms and is not
used by them to train models.
- Amazon Web Services — backend server hosting and secret storage.
- Cloudflare — DNS, and delivery of this website.
Retention
Your account data and content are kept for as long as your account exists. When you
delete your account from within the app, your profile, recipes, pantry, meal plans,
chef facts, chat history, and usage records are deleted.
Server logs are retained for a limited period for security and debugging.
Your choices
- You can view and edit your recipes, pantry, chef-profile facts, and plans directly
in the app.
- You can clear your AI chat history from the app.
- You can delete your entire account and its data from the app's settings.
- To ask a question about your data or request a copy, contact us at the address below.
Children
iCookNow is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate,
notify you in the app.
